Kor's finally (officially) married yesterday!!! Why I said "official" is cos I have seen them as husband and wife long ago hehe. So he told me to at least act excited that they are married hahahaha...

It was a really looooong day... But quite an experience. ;)

I really wanna thank God for teaching me so much these few weeks, for opening my eyes to my own mistakes and wrongdoings.

It's very important to get time off for self-reflection and it's good to know that we are not always right. Well, I guess everyone knows that but few can accept that.

Successfully woke up this morning after much struggle, and am now in the school library TRYING to study. I think the recess week has totally diminished my stamina to go school!!!

Anatomy test is on this Thursday, feeling quite stressed out cos I don't know how much I know and I am quite sick of studying already. Predict that I won't study the next few days cos of the wedding. Hmmm...

..... .... ... .. .

Indeed, there are many things which I don't understand and probably can't to. People's first assumption to that statement would most likely be BAD things that happened to me which I don't understand why.

However, in fact, there are many GOOD things which happened to me which I don't understand why too. Good things which I know I don't deserve. But whoever will question that? We just take it for granted that those things dropped from heaven and landed in our lives. No one will question further. We gave God our 1 sentence of thanks and we happily received.

(My vocabulary has gone way down to simply "good","bad" and "things"... It's quite a tragedy, pardon that.)

So why is it that people get "alarmed" when bad things happen in their lives? Can I say it's just as normal as having good things happening? Though it's near impossible to "happily receive" them, we can still thank God for all things at all time.

Circumstances may/will change, but God is the same yesterday, today and forever. AMEN.

Since it's the holiday, or rather recess week, it's good to take a moment to sort out my life. Gonna be long, just a sketch of my life. More for myself to read though haha.

PIANO

Since I was young I badly wanted to learn how to play a piano... But I only started learning when I was 13. Sigh. I didn't have a piano then, so my teacher gave me a long paper keyboard so I practised on that and imagined it was a real piano... And yes like you and me, we all started off with "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and "Happy Birthday".

My mum was the one who got me started, she's always supportive of me learning piano... She was the one who bought me my current 2nd hand piano at $5k+. It was a big risk considering I may discontinue learning after a while. But I didn't cos I really love the piano.

A few years back, my dad told me he actually named me after a pianist in church. I was very surprised. I hope I can serve God in this area... But currently no plan as in how to.

Plan to take my Grade 6 theory and practical next year. Skip Grade 7 practical and jump to Grade 8 the following year... If $$$ allows, I'll take Diploma.

CELLO

When I was 15, there was an open door for me to play the cello in my school's Chinese Orchestra. They were looking for just ONE more person. Word spread to me and I joined since the thought of learning an instrument for FREE was very tempting.

Involved in SYF and stuff but couldn't play well cos they didn't grill on the basics.

Used to have casual thoughts of me playing in an "ang moh" orchestra, just a day-dream at that time cos the vision was too far-fetched.

When our church formed an orchestra and performed @ Expo for the 1st time, I was thrilled. I couldn't keep my eyes off the cellists cos I wanted to be playing with them. Never did I know that some of them were actually Elgin and Lisa.

Got Steph to get me a Cello teacher since she was in NAFA. Bought a $1.3k cello and paid my monthly fee out of my own pocket. It was a big sacrifice considering I was/am not that rich. He taught me from SCRATCH and I'm very thankful for his patience with me. :)

Emailed Tat Haur that I wanted to join the orchestra and he invited me to join them. Very thankful for this opportunity since I couldn't even play decently. Always "kena-ed" from Eric and there was a period where I rejected my cello totally, didn't even wanna see it.

That was the beginning.

When I got into NUS, I so wanted to join NUSSO. To my utmost surprise, I passed the audition and got in. But I'm not sure if I'm up to it. :(

Yes now I've fulfilled my dream of playing in an "ang moh" orchestra. Truly if you can see it, you can have it. No matter how silly you feel at first for even imagining it.

 NUS-NURSING

Whenever I passed by the highway next to NUS, I always wish I could study there one day. What attracted me were the running tracks and volleyball courts. I'm really happy to be studying there now.

In my 2004 July/August entry, I wrote that I wanted to be either a nurse or a counselor in future. In fact now I can be both. Haha. Thought of becoming a doctor too because the thought of working in an operating theatre is quite cool. But of cos my results were nowhere near fantastic. I still have a chance to work in an OT though. Hehe.

Most importantly, I want to spread the love of God to those who need it most and to be a bearer of God's light in people's darkest moments.

CHURCH

When I was 14, beloved CAI kept "pestering" me to go church with her. Man... How she was good in it. I didn't even know her personally then... I didn't even know how I actually know her. But in secondary school, everybody knew everybody somehow.

She "pestered" till I was nearly 15. When church first moved to JW, I finally went. But on the first day, I went ALONE cos I couldn't find CAI!!! (And I didn't have a HP then...) I was quite scared, I CRIED!!!! HAHA. 2 ushers escorted me to a seat in a corner.

New friend abandoned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wahaha...

But that day was a very significant day in my life. That day changed my entire life, it was the turning point of my life. I experienced the most wonderful love of all.

Yes and all these years I've been avoiding a calling - to be a cgl. I'm actually thankful to a special person who awakened my soul. Not sure "special" is the most appropriate word to use though.

Yes so now I got my direction and I'm working towards it. Slowly but surely. Thanks to MC and KL for being so supportive and to Shing who gives me the opportunity to.

So yes, this is roughly the plan and outlook of my life at this moment. Feel good to write them down. :)

Practised cello earlier on... Some songs for Nov Asia Conference... It just made me feel bad. Though I've improved but so what... I'm still not "THERE" yet... I still can't play like "the rest"...

I'm not sure, is it a musician thing to always struggle with this thought? Or just me?

And I didn't feel like playing the piano this week... Cos I think I sounded terrible each time I tried to play... Sigh. This is bad.

I don't know what has gotten into me...

Am I striving for excellence or perfectionism? Or I actually can't play at all...

Maybe I just need some serious renewing of mind...

WOW, MAMA MIA IS REALLY NICE!!!!!!!!!

I love everything about that show!!!!!!! The setting was gorgeous, the songs are great and PIERCE BROSNAN LOOKS PERFECT. Woo.

I WANNA GET THE SOUNDTRACK CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I so love the songs I hummed them all the way home (so me right?). Just 5 mins walk actually hahaha.

And yes I went to watch it ALONE. Cos I felt like watching a movie at 8+ pm and so I walked across the street and bought a ticket Haha. I'm that random.

I think I've mastered the art of self-entertaining... Lol... Cool.

It's over 2am, still wide awake trying to study a little bit more. Not that I'm hardworking :) but rather I feel guilty not studying much the entire day haha.

I know someone doesn't like me staying up late... Hmmm...

Anyway, reason why I didn't study as much as I wanted to was cos I spent my day cleaning and fixing some stuff at my kor's new house. It's some little things I can help out in since I can't really bless him as much as I want to financially... Hehe.

So I offered him my sweat and caused him some blood instead as some tools flew off my hands and hit him TWICE hahaha. =x

We went to Ikea @ Tampines!!! It was my first time there and it's HUGE!!! WOW. Sorry to sound so sua gu!!! I was clearly taken aback. Haha.

I know someone likes to go Ikea too...

It's really fun tidying up new houses Hehe.

Strangely and unknowingly, I've lost a good 3-4 kg in less than 2 months. I weighed myself for over 10 times cos I couldn't believe it. HAHA. And to think I ate more than usual junk recently... Life is unfair? Lol...

The best reason I can think of is the loss of muscle mass. Or my stubborn BABY fats just suddenly decided to leave me for good. Waha...

Just in time for kor's wedding next week hahaha..

I realised my mistakes, I was ignorant and oblivious. Hmmm, oblivious sounds like merely an easy excuse to get away from something. MC said I was insensitive. I guess that is a better word to describe.

A few mistakes here and there... Hmmm should have bring out my left hand part more, it's kinda hidden... So try to pay attention to (ie, strain your ears to hear) the left hand part too. It's mainly an echo of the right hand...

The "kok kok" knocking sound that is dispersed throughout the entire song is quite irritating. It's actually my fingernails hitting against the keyboard. Lol.

I think I quite let Bach down... Anyway all comments are welcome... :)

YES! Today's last day of school. Having recess week next week. =) Not that I don't enjoy going to school... It's just that I'd love a break too. Hehe.

Quite frustrated with myself recently partly cos my cello and piano skills are still not very good. And also other things which I didn't see for myself. But yes I'm thankful that God opened my eyes to a lot of things previously unseen.

Quite happy with myself too, cos my cello has improved hehe. But I feel I'm taking forever. The open secret is to never give up. ;)

Had an open door for me to perform in a quartet again! So fun. It'll be end of year and the $ we earn will help fund NUSSO.

I realised my writing has become increasingly fragmented. Might as well write in POINT-FORM??? Hahaha.

Anyway, just some senseless gibber...

At this very present moment, I feel like packing my bag and go away with my piano and cello.

Then again, I'd make a coward out of myself. We like to walk away from problems. If people = problems, then you can substitute "people" into my previous sentence.

Best thing that happened today was... My piano teacher taught me for an extra 15 MINUTES. To be calculative, that's $11+ FOC hahaha...

More than that, it's really a pure pleasure to attend piano lessons... The victorious feeling of conquering a piece which you've been struggling with, or simply just outdoing yourself each time you play, can make you super happy. At least for me... =P

This is what I call "self-entertainment". Hahaha.

Hope to get at least a Diploma in piano next time... Maybe in 4-5 years? *shrug* Seems far...

Had Anatomy lab today. We had to go into the Anatomy Hall again, one which is filled with the smell of Formalin. I quite hate that smell, it makes me nauseous.

Today was slightly different, we get to TOUCH a cadaver and various body parts. Everything felt rubbery.

I guess we have already gotten over seeing whatever there is in the human body. Felt indifferent when I ate chicken rice after that hehe.

Stayed back in school to finish up some stuff, felt quite accomplished haha. Took a train back and I COULDN'T HELP but to think that this man I saw look like one of the cadavers... And I COULDN'T HELP but to imagine further... *Sigh* Study hazard???

I seriously hope and pray that I won't get a nightmare like before... It was too scary I woke up. For someone who sleeps like a LOG, it takes a really scary nightmare to wake me up...

Anyway, today was a real interesting day. We discussed about the controversial topic of "ABORTION" during tutorial.

Did you know that...

- A pregnant woman, REGARDLESS of age, have full rights to make a decision as to what she wants to do with the fetus? That is, If I'm a 14 year-old who is pregnant, I can choose to abort it WITHOUT requiring anyone's consent. All information will be kept CONFIDENTIAL at the end of the day.

- However, if I'm a 20.5 year old and I want to just remove a stubborn MOLE, I'd need my PARENTS' consent. (We only have full rights at the age of 21.)

Do you see the irony here?

In fact, Singapore is way too liberal with our abortion laws. Can check the validity of the above points.

Abortion is a very simple thing to do. Chop chop done. The cost is not a problem too.

It's a highly debatable subject... Which is too much of a hassle to talk about it here... But think about it. :)

Sometimes in my own quiet time with God, a song will just randomly spring out of me. Then I will get excited and save the lyrics in my handphone and I will start singing the new song to God and feel super happy about it. Hahaha.

Or I'll write lyrics without melody, just for fun. Hehe.

You can try too. :)

Though the popularly/"commercially" sung songs are nice but it's also good to give God something totally from our within...

Doesn't matter if the lyrics don't rhyme or the melody is out or we sing out of tune (All the above referred to myself Lol...), as long as it's from our heart, I think God will be touched... :)

Paid my piano fee today and reality struck me that I can't survive on the allowance my dad gives me. Was thinking of giving tuition to sec school students instead of primary school cos the value is higher with the same amount of time spent...

My plan is to take Grade6 theory and practical next year.

And my dream is to be able to perform on the piano one fine day... Whenever that is... 5, 10, 20 years? Just gotta fulfill that dream by hook or by crook haha. Before I die.

Met up with my kor for dinner today. He's getting married next month! I think I'm more excited than him hahaha. Cos I'm gonna be a bridesmaid. It's quite a shy thing... lol. But I think it'll be fun =P

It's really quite scary how much he knows me... He saw me grew up from a xiao mei mei in sec school till now... So he pretty much knows the way I think and my character.

Anyway, I'm a person who doesn't like to beat around the bush. I don't like indecisiveness. In fact I quite hate it. Like for goodness' sake please make up your/my mind. -_- It's especially a big turn off for me if a guy is indecisive. =X

No po ma-ness cos that's so gu niang.

Know what you want and go for it. When you get it, don't look back. :)

Having said those, I'm quite strict on myself in this aspect too... I don't like myself to be indecisive too...

Hello Cello Pros

 

I suspect that someone is secretly praying for me... Cos I don't know why I'm feeling (nearly) on top of the world recently haha.

School's really fun, it's just NOT ME to keep gushing about school and getting all excited... Lol. I suspect something is wrong with me...

Anyway, went for sectional prac ytd... 6 of us were there. 5 were pros except me! So it was really stressful. PROs as in really PROS...

I spoke to a Chinese guy beside me and asked him how long has he played the Cello... Cos he played very impressively... He told me 15 YEARS. That's like 5/7 of my life. So I felt better that I couldn't play well enough.

Another Ang Moh girl was very good as well, she has been playing over 10 years too. 

My sectional leader's been playing for 8 years.

And ME??? 1-2 years. And it's not like I really practised... I probably really only play for maybe less than 1 year... So it took a lot of courage out of me to just attend practices...

Supposed to have a performance next wed @ the national library. However, the pieces are too difficult for me so I'm gonna give it a miss. My plan is to learn from my SL/tutor after the perf.

The Complicated Heart

 

Had Anatomy lecture today and it was all about the HEART.

It was one of the driest lectures ever. I got frustrated at some point cos we were bombarded with so many alien words at one go and we couldn't quite figure out what the lecturer was saying sometimes due to his strong Indian accent.

But I must admit he really knows his stuff... At the back of his hand! The way he regurgitated was kinda amusing but of course didn't make much sense to us. The entire lecture hall woke up when he told us that he used to be a heart surgeon... Lol...

Sigh... The heart is so complicated. Seems like almost every centimeter of the heart has a name... And we are supposed to know the names and where they are located...

=(

To think that I even have problems remembering my classmates' names...

Anyway... I'm still pretty amazed by how the heart can function independently from the brain. That is, the brain needs the heart to function but not vice versa.

I think my heart certainly contains much more stuff which the lecturer hasn't found out. Haha funny...

Today I understood a few things.

1) Meaning of "A Calling".


It's simply a voice in you calling out to you to do something. It's a naggy voice which will continue to bug you until you address it.

That's a calling.

And then I remembered. Something has been calling out to me for YEARS. I always ignore it because it will definitely change me, my lifestyle and all. I wasn't sure if I'm up to it...

But now I am ready to face it.

 

2) Leukemia

Recently someone quite close to me told me he used to have Leukemia when he was young. I knew about that long ago though. He's healthy and ok now.

Then,  I didn't have a good understanding of what Leukemia was all about. Coincidentally, today's lecture was about Blood and Leukemia was mentioned.

It's a blood cancer where the white blood cell (WBC) grows out of control. Those WBCs are not functional and displace the remaining healthy ones. This causes a weak immune system which can lead to many diseases.

I also learnt that if the cancer cells are still intact, it's still curable. But if it has spread into the bloodstream and other parts of the body, then it can only be controlled and not cured...

Can check up on the validity of these points...

Then again, it leads me to think back on Leukemia. It's a BLOOD cancer, meaning the cancerous WBCs are already all over the body.

I thought of my friend. Truly it was a miracle for him. And I really don't wanna think too deep into that.

Chatted up with a Medical student last week. He told me he wanna be an Oncologist.. There was so much surety and confidence in his words, it kinda warmed my heart. I love to be around people who are passionate in what they are doing. There is just a certain attractiveness in them.

On the other hand, people who find everything so sian can really drain away my energy... I normally avoid them...

I'm really loving school Haha. I look forward to going to school every morning even if it means I have to wake up at 6.30am almost every day.

That's quite a big statement considering I'm not/never a morning person. =X

I always stand by this:

Do what you love and love what you do.

Of course it's easy to do what we love. However, we don't always love what we do. Actually, we can reverse that, just gotta find JOY in everything we do then we'll start loving it.

Does it make sense? :)

Oh btw, I mentioned that the last sense to stop functioning is the sense of hearing.

In my personal opinion... The FIRST sense to stop functioning is probably our COMMON sense. It may sound quite funny, but think about it. :)

There are a lot of things which I do not understand. I probably don't have to and probably never will. There's probably a price to pay for being simple-minded.

Come to think of it, there's a price to pay for everything.

A lot of people simply can't appreciate simplicity. I can't understand why again. They love complicating things, that probably give them some kicks and perks in their otherwise boring lives.

Give a literal example, in the medical field, some weirdos came up with bombastic names for every part of the body as if Biology is not complicated enough... They really don't like to use layman terms like windpipe, gullet, arm and so on... And then they realised it's making things real difficult. They decided to reduce them to abbreviations.

And now we need to remember BOTH.

 

I digressed! It's probably a lousy example anyway. :)

I'm totally loving school! It's been 2 weeks and it's fun thus far. Haha. Still need a little getting-used-to though.

I really love Biology and learning things about our own bodies. That makes it easier I guess... I come to realise that the human body is SO complex YET so systematic. In the complexity, all functions in the body are still carried out neatly and orderly..

That truly amazes me.
That truly is not by chance but very well-planned.

By the way, some fun facts.
By far, there has been NO record of any heart cancer. (But lots of records of broken hearts.)

And the last sense to stop functioning is the sense of HEARING. So even though a person may be in coma or at the very last moment of life, he can still hear you. It's amazing. So continue to talk to and pray for that person if situations like that arise.

Just a casual question. Is it better to die with regrets or live with regrets?

What do you regret not doing?

Went for my first nus orchestra rehearsal today, I was totally taken aback by...

1) The size of the orchestra. There were already 12 cellists, so imagine the total number of people...

2) The standard of the orchestra. We played 2 pieces by Rossini. It's MADNESS to the max. The same kind of feeling came back when I first joined chc orchestra... Hmm...

3) The pro-ness of the cellists... Except me. Sigh... Whined to my cello teacher and he really encouraged and talked sense into me... Thou shall persevere no matter what.

 

It's a very big challenge for me, but since I'm in it now, there's no turning back. Must improve even more now... It's quite mentally distressing but it's really an honour for me to be able to play in this orchestra...

Oh btw, I was pleasantly surprised to see my JC MATHS TEACHER playing in the orchestra too!!! (Thank God I remembered his name...) He came back as an alumni... To think that we used to make fun of him... =X

Orchestra is where people from ALL walks of life come together as one, with the same heartbeat, playing the same song. It really doesn't matter who you are or what you do.

It makes us forget about life for a while...

Last week - It passed real fast.

Yesterday - Had an orchestra cum choir performance @ St Andrew's Cathedral, at their new 'underground' church. It was great I think. Today - Went for morning prayer meeting @ JW, saw Matt and we had breakfast together after that with his cg member. Out of the blue while we were eating, her hp rang and it was her grandpa calling from Indonesia with the news that her MUM has passed on. My heart broke for her.

Matt drove me to school in his new car! It was really cool. He installed something which can allow him to listen to songs from his iPod in his car. Is this device common? Or am I not updated? Hahaha. 

Met Cai after school @ Orchard. At the end of the day, I LOST MY HANDPHONE. She was quite surprised that I was so calm haha. I mean... There's nothing to make a big fuss over since it's already gone.

Did CPR today, it was kinda physically demanding. Anyway I did something in school today... I'm such a wimp sometimes.

Visited the Anatomy Hall in school ytd, the entire room was filled with an overwhelming smell of formalin. Saw a few cadavers, some dried up and some whole ones.

Went up to the Anatomy Museum after that and saw almost all the body parts, inside out. I know more about me and you now. 

Made my stomach churned while eating my chicken chop right after that.

Week 1 of school is over. It's kinda fun so far.

Had piano lesson just now... I played quite badly. Anyway, my teacher thought that my exam result was 'so low'. So I shouldn't be too happy about it actually haha. But well... I didn't expect that since I screwed up so I feel happy about it.

Today must have been a really special happy day!!!!!

1) Went for NUS symphony orchestra audition today and I got in!!! YESSSSS!!! That means FREE CELLO LESSONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really need to improve cos I've been stagnant for quite long and my rate of progression is at snail pace.

But that also means I can't attend the church rehearsals cos it clashes. Good also, if not it's quite shiong.

3) Came home and saw that my piano exam result has been sent to my house!!! And PRAISE THE LORD I got a MERIT!!!!!!!!!! It's really a surprise considering how much I screwed up the whole exam and had to whine to Marilyn for more than half an hour on the phone. =X

After getting my cert, it also means that I'd have to PAY more for my lessons next month onwards as my grade increases. Gosh...

Today's the official start of school term. Schooling is fun when you have fun friends around. And it took away some stuff on my mind for a while...

Had Physiology lecture early in the morning, it was kind of like a recap of the cell membrane. The lecture group consisted of people from Nursing, Dentistry and Pharmacy so it's quite a big group.

Will be having Anatomy lecture tmr. Looking forward haha. I love Biology and Nursing is mainly about Bio.

CONTRARY to popular belief, nursing is more than just cleaning sheets and clearing "something which sounds similar". That's a downright stereotype and it just shows total ignorance.

My dad has been very curious why they even came up with a Nursing degree. Reason is, people's demand has increased drastically. 20 years ago, it used to be 1 nurse : 20 SICK people. Now it's almost 1:1 and still the nurses don't even have time to finish their stuff.

People want to KNOW the reason behind everything. What injection are you giving them, why this and why that. "They don't sleep when you ask them to and they don't eat what you give them." =x Quoted from a lecturer.

So IF you ever have to go to the hospital, please be nice to the nurses. :)

People have been telling me that I have a "mass comm" look. Haha. And wondered why the ..... did I take up nursing.

Hmmm.... I will say when I am officially a nurse. :) Guess it's not something I will do for the sake of doing... But it's still too early to say.

Btw, I passed my First Aid theory test haha. Able to move on to practical this friday.

Trick is to just give the theorically correct answers. Though it may seem silly in real life. Haha.

Watched the Olympics after school, a bit of weightlifting, swimming and badminton.

Badminton was Indonesia vs Thailand. Though I like the Indonesians, I supported the Thailand guy!!! Cos he looked more humble and he was at the losing side. Haha.

Thank goodness no one was home cos I went "awwwwww..." "Oh man..........." "Oh NOoo................" whenever the Thai guy made some avoidable errors hahaha. =x

Quite stupid.

Happy National Day.

Last night's Beijing Olympics Opening was a BLAST. I was totally awe-stricken and captivated by the creativity, grandiosity and the pride of the Chinese towards their country... 

Think it shook the world.

I love the Olympics! All thanks to the Greeks! I love the sportsmen. The Olympics is a stark display of the manifestation of the human will.

It gives me goosebumps and a slight adrenaline rush just watching them.

Back to National Day, our strength is certainly incomparable to China's, thus we probably can't produce the same impact. However, there is no excuse not to be proud of SINGAPORE.

Sadly, what we see here is worse than not being proud of SG. We have seen and/or experienced people jeering at those who are/wanting to be patriotic.

Ok, I'm guilty of that. =P

So I asked myself why. And I couldn't find an answer. :) It just seems funny to suddenly love SG so much just for ONE day.

School's been fun so far. We started off with the basic First Aid course which everyone in the medical field must know. Most of our lecturers are doctors and (surprisingly) they are very funny lol. We were all amused and captivated by the stories they told us.

We learnt that "common sense is not common" and that if we don't know what to do in an emergency, we should just give oxygen. =X

And much more...

One of the lecturers slipped out this "I have no bleeding idea." Hahaha.

I'm the take-it-or-leave-it kinda person. I don't like having to convince people... I don't like to repeat myself...

Maybe I'm often misunderstood?

I don't know...

I can be alone by myself, totally quiet and PERFECTLY fine.

Seems like people just can't take that in...

I don't know why.

I don't understand the need to keep talking anyway. It gets really noisy.

Maybe it's just me.

People become like everyone else in order to fit in. Fit into what?

School's starting from today. Feel like I'm entering a battlefield, with shackles on my feet. Am I prepared, am I geared?

I wouldn't know until the battle begins.

That's why it's so difficult to walk the narrow way. We do not have the 'luxury' to walk away... The narrow way is the only way, a one-way street.

Went to NUS to register myself. Met some of my faculty mates haha they are really nice people. By the way, my faculty has only 75 people, out of that only 6 males haha. All the best to them!

NUS is really a vibrant school with lots of activities, so I really gotta get my focus right...

That was our last rehearsal, will be performing this weekend @ both JW and Expo. So all of us have to travel to and fro the far east and the wild west.

Marilyn won't be playing with us this time, so there'll only be me and Elgin for the cello section. Hope my cello teacher can play on Sunday @ Expo.

Went for the NUS/NTU camp, but didn't stay overnight cos I feel unsettled in some things. Sorting out my life now, making sure the start of uni will be good.

Won't be going for my own nus camp too cos i registered late? Haha. Really happy man. I mean, we can make friends anytime, but some things have to be dealt with right there and then.

For as long as the battle goes on, I will keep fighting on... I can sense I'm slowly winning the battle already. But I won't be satisfied until I feel I have completely claimed the victory.

However, IT will not be happy too and will wanna revenge!!!!!! Too bad la. I'd say BRING IT ON!!!

Phew.

Spent my day @ Sentosa with my sub-zone. It was fun. Especially the volleyball! Don't know when's the next time I'll be playing again though...

Had a quartet performance last night @ JW church and we played "CANON IN D" (Everybody's favourite classical piece, esp KaiLin =P) My very first quartet performance and it was fun.

During rehearsals we had difficulty synchronizing all the parts and it sounded very messy. Right up to soundcheck shortly before performing. Thank God that during performance all of us were in time with one another and we performed our best one.

It's a miracle I think. Cos most of the time performance on stage is only around 60-80% of our best during rehearsals. I think. Really thank God for that man.

Kinda screwed up my piano exam. Was hoping that my fingers wouldn't be cold and shaky, yet it was warm and limp... Haa... Kinda disappointed with my performance cos I did my best at that moment, but still it wasn't my best standard. Probably even below my average.

Results will only be out in a few months. Meanwhile, I'm really looking forward to playing OTHER repertoires...

Had a long day ytd and thought I could have a nice rest at night. I ended up tossing on my bed for 3 EXCRUCIATING HOURS until 6 plus in this morning. My mind and body couldn't coordinate again.

Thank God that my sms woke my mum up and we ended talking from 330-430. Don't know why both parents like to talk so much. Haha.

Another reason why I couldn't sleep - I couldn't sleep in my favourite position! Had an injection ytd to boost my antibodies against Hep B. Had drawn some blood last week for Hep B testing and they discovered I don't have enough antibodies. This means that I'm more susceptible to contracting Hep B.

It was so freaking painful, resulting in my whole left arm feeling weak and sore. The nurse wasn't exactly friendly, just like the typical old, grumpy nurses you often encounter. (Sorry for the stereotype.)

Sometimes I feel they should really get some life outside... Breathe some fresher air... Brighten up their lives a little...

The poor patients have to first pluck up their courage and submit themselves under total control of a stranger, that takes a lot of FAITH... And some people are just freaking scared of needles and blood, but those nurses who think that they have been through SO MUCH over the years, just scoff at those patients for being freaking scared and they get GRUMPY and IMPATIENT, thus instill in the patients some more unnecessary phobia over the years.

Nevermind, please forgive them!!!!!

The next generation WILL arise and stand in the gap!!!!!!!

So now I'm confirmed going to study NURSING in NUS. While some disapprove of that, others support me and a MINORITY fears for the worst. *Evil Grin*

Haha, whatever it is, I don't really care. I'm really excited about starting school, and even more excited about the attachment after every semester.

USED TO want to be a DOCTOR but somehow had forgotten about that thought as years went by. Why doctor??? Cos I've always dream about working in an OPERATING THREATRE. Hope I'm one step nearer to that dream now. Hehe...

Also hope that some day, I can help the casualties in disastrous regions of Asia.

I love the unpredictability of the job, the satisfaction of seeing people recovering, to be able to help those who can't help themselves and most importantly to spread the love of God and to SHINE His light in a world of darkness.

That's why I am taking Nursing. (By faith...)

And stop calling me MISSY. (Only close friends can... Hahaha)

  Orchestra rehearsal was quite fun tonight.

1) I've improved! (Or so I thought)
2) Choir combined with us for "Hallelujah Chorus"
3) Played through the song we're performing for next week and it sounded twice better than last week's.
4) SOFI WAS THERE!!!

But

1) Attendance was still bad
2) I was the only cellist and so was overwhelmed by the rest.
3) I started "Hallelujah Chorus" wrongly and Eric stared at me.

Haha, main point is, SOFI WAS THERE!!! =)

Met her up for dinner prior rehearsal and we ate the SAME food and drank the SAME drink! Hee... Good taste man. (Pun intended)

I can't count dotted rhythm while playing. And that song is so full of it... And the fingerings are so out of my 'comfort zone'... And my posture still needs improvement...

At least my intonation has improved a little... But that's probably all.

Sorry to all for being emo after rehearsals sometimes, it's just me feeling frustrated at myself for not playing well enough.

It's mentally/emotionally/physically challenging being a musician...

But then again, the reward of playing music makes it all worthwhile.

Ok I must do some serious practise now... I MUST I MUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stupid Devil's Night Terror

 

So happy to have God in my life!!!

Thanks to Joe (during deliverance cg) and Elgin for praying for me regarding night terror. I used to be so scared at night when I'm alone at home... Scared that someone would pop out. Even little noises could freak me out. Heh.

To the extent where once I went up to my neighbour's house above just to make sure if they were the ones making the noises or was it something else...

But for the past night and tonight, I've been spending my nights alone at home and I AM/WASN'T SCARED ANYMORE!!! I could freely walk around my house now hehe.

Even when a light bulb fell down when I switched on the lights in the living room 2 nights ago... I could still sleep in peace!

I remember once I was playing piano and suddenly for no reason, one light bulb dropped behind me. IT FREAKED ME OUT LIKE NOBODY'S BUSINESS, and I was alone at night then...

Stupid devil using the same trick again!!!!!!! BUT THIS TIME I'M NOT SCARED ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW! Hahaha... So happy I'm not held captive by night terror anymore. Thank God for that!!! =)

Went to nus to submit some admission forms... So happy man, finally settled. Every time I passed by the school in the expressway, I always wish I can study there because I always see people playing volleyball there and I wanna play there also Lol...

A lot of tennis courts too! Miss playing with my jc classmates... Though I am not good in it. Haha.

Hope I can be part of the piano and string ensemble too. Either one is fine. If I pass the audition for both then better still. But if I don't pass any audition then it's a sad thing. Don't know their standard though.

Anyway, still waiting for my course appeal result... If it's successful then I'll get into Arts and Social Science, if not then I'll stick to Nursing which I like too. At least something to do with the medical field...

And since it's a small faculty, we will 'hun' with people from Medicine and Dentistry. And I expect a lot of NERDS. Lots of them... Oh man...

I have some phobia for them but they are quite fun to bully. Haha. =X

I discovered something today - to stop teardrops from rolling down your cheeks, we simply have to just focus on a spot (preferably on the ground). Long enough till it prevents us from thinking about everything else.

It works. But only temporary. Still, it's a useful skill in times of need, in times when it's inconvenient to cry.

Then again, hopefully you don't have to try it.

Sometimes, I wish I don't have way vivid imagination.

It can sometimes create senseless amusement much to people's bewilderment. (Maybe they just lack a sense of humour =P)

It can sometimes dramatize scenarios and magnify a seemingly small problem, bringing much unnecessary disappointments.

But I love my imagination. In the realm of my imagination, I can do many great things... I can be whatever I wanna be... And I can even fly. =)

I wish I can select some memories to be deleted. However, the irony is, the more we want to forget something, the longer it lingers in our mind.

And the sad thing is, I don't even have a good memory to start with, so why does my brain choose to remember things not worthy to be remembered...

My dad just told me ytd that he called NUS 2 weeks ago to ask for my application status. I wasn't accepted. He didn't tell me then, but simply told me to find another school which I like.

And then a few days after he called, I received a letter of rejection from NUS. I went ...................

Felt that I've let down the people who have always believed in me.

Nevertheless, deep inside I refused to accept this and kept praying almost every night for God to turn things around. I didn't care if my family members heard me, I just PRAYED like there were only me and God in this world.

And so then out of the blue on Monday afternoon, I received a call from NUS asking me if I wanna accept their offer.

For with GOD, ALL things are POSSIBLE. AMEN.

Thanks to my dearest Elgin who has believed in me right from the start, and who was so cool when I told him the news. Way too cool, like he knew it long ago... Lol. Thank you for your countless encouragement and your "just-being-there"s even in times when you were already so tired from work...

Yay got Dist for Grade 5 music theory~ *Cheers* hahaha.. Ok la, it's probably not a big deal.

Orchestra prac was fine, but the attendance was quite bad though. Anyway, watch out for us! We'll be performing again in early July. Something different this time. Hehe.

Music is my life!!!

But I probably can't make it my livelihood.

Scouting for unis and courses now!!! Time is kinda tight...

Narrowed down to 2 options - Biomedical or mass comm.

Piano exam's coming up SOON! Probably just 4 more lessons. Can't wait to get over Grade 5 and move on to Grade 7. Skip to save $ and time. The cert probably doesn't mean much anyway. But I must play my best.

I CAN'T STAND BEING STAGNANT. The lack of knowledge is killing me inside out.

Reminiscence

 

Some songs make me nostalgic. Some have the strange ability to walk me down historic paths, back to life when it seemed almost perfect, almost like a dream which didn't exist.

Remnants of memories flashed as if on a faulty recorder tucked neatly in a corner of my heart.

Of which some are like photographs of silently captured moments stored in you. Others, short vivid video clips which steal away every smile.

Well whatever it is, it's good to dig out that faulty recorder once in a while and watch the world's best drama - your life.
